The United States Army has awarded Honeywell a contract worth approximately US$249 million for the maintenance and overhaul of T55 engines used in CH-47 Chinook helicopters.
The information comes from the website Defence Blog. According to the announcement by the U.S. Department of War, the agreement aims to ensure the operational readiness of the fleet and prevent interruptions in the supply of engine maintenance and overhaul services.
The contract is fixed-price and is expected to remain in effect until May 2029.

According to the Department, the specific locations where the services will be carried out and the amounts allocated to each stage will be defined according to the orders issued throughout the program. Only one proposal was reportedly received during the contracting process.
The T55 engines power the Chinook helicopters, one of the main heavy-lift transport platforms of the U.S. armed forces. The aircraft is widely used in missions involving troop movement, cargo transport, medical evacuation and logistical support in combat environments.

The new agreement comes amid a series of recent investments aimed at modernizing and sustaining the Chinook fleet, considered essential for high-mobility military operations by the U.S. and its allies.
